On the occasion of World Cancer Day, Marie-Pierre Revel, ESR 2nd Vice-President and leader of the regional lung cancer screening (LCS) pilot on female recruitment within the SOLACE project, was featured in a documentary broadcast by TV5MONDE titled “Neither Tobacco nor Cancer: The Fight of a Lifetime.”
The documentary highlights the human side of lung cancer screening, focusing on women in France who are smokers or former smokers and who took part in the CASCADE study, a lung cancer screening initiative led by Marie-Pierre Revel. Through personal stories, the film explores the challenges of smoking cessation, the impact of early diagnosis, and the importance of prevention and support in improving patient outcomes.
By showcasing real-life experiences rather than statistics alone, the documentary aims to raise awareness about the value of lung cancer screening and early detection in saving lives.
Marie-Pierre Revel plays a key role in advancing lung cancer prevention and screening efforts across Europe through her leadership within SOLACE, particularly in strengthening female participation in screening programmes. Her contribution also aligns with EIBIR’s mission to support innovative research and collaborative initiatives that improve cancer diagnosis and care.
The documentary was broadcast on 4 February on TV5MONDE in connection with World Cancer Day.
