Image Guided Radiotherapy
Radiotherapy plays an important part in the multidisciplinary treatment of cancer, and treatment modalities in radiotherapy are becoming increasingly sophisticated.
In order to increase understanding and improve the benefits of radiotherapy for the patient, there is great need to jointly enhance research activities with specialists in the field of imaging.
The new Initiative for Image Guided Radiotherapy will focus on theranostic imaging in radiation oncology. Imaging is a key driver offering new knowledge in the treatment process, and 5 areas have been identified:
- Imaging in radiobiology
- Imaging in targeting
- Imaging in delivery
- Imaging in side effects
- Imaging in large databases and radiomics
