Horizon 2020 – Work Programme 2016/17

The Horizon 2020 work programme 2016/17 includes €16 billion of the programme’s total of €77 million of reserach funding.

This two-year work programme places an emphasis on boosting jobs, growth and investment and two billion euro of funding will go to small-to-medium-sized businesses (SMEs). Creating a Single Digitial Market is another a major priority for the European Commission and €139 million euro has been allocated to Internet of Things (IoT) calls which will address a number of societal challenges. Personalised medicine also features a key area and as the Commission hopes to boost European industry and the so-called silver economy by investing in strategies for earlier and more effective prevention, diagnosis and treatments, and help Europe address the ageing population and chronic disease with €659 million.
